One of the most rewarding aspects of being a part of a small business is having the freedom and flexibility to make a difference in the community. Here at PeopleFoundry we truly value what it means to give back to the community. On August 3rd we visited Care For Friends - a nonprofit located in Lincoln Park that provides easy access to the community, food and overall wellness for Chicago’s most vulnerable and underserved people, in an atmosphere of dignity and respect.
Care For Friends offers a variety of programs that are designed to create a safe place and provide everyday essentials to the homeless community.
Our team participated in the Food For Friends program. This particular program serves 9,000 hot meals each year to any guest in need through a three day per week lunch program. These meals are prepared to address the unique needs of homeless populations, emphasizing fresh produce and high protein contents.
Throughout our time at Care For Friends, our team prepared a three course meal that consisted of a fresh green salad, a potato salad, brisket and fillet mignon, and cookies with pound cake for dessert. In addition to meal preparation, our team had the opportunity to mingle with each of the guests and hear their stories.
Participating in Care For Friends program has really proven to be a fun and impactful way to highlight and support our community and our company's core values. PeopleFoundry’s CEO and Founder, Michelle Joseph believes that as a corporation it is important to give back and visiting Care For Friends was an excellent to do so.
